Charlotte PERRIAND
1903 - 1999

Associate of Le Corbusier from 1927 and founder member of the Union of the Modern Artists, UAM, in 1930. She is interested from 1937 in the furniture of mountain type in particular for Méribel and will undergo the influence of the Japanese art after an on-the-spot stay from 1940. In 1949, she joins with René Herbst and Jean Prouvé, the association Formes Utiles created by André Hermant and participated in diverse shows to the Salon des Arts Ménagers SAM, but also in the developments of student residence in Paris. From 1955, the Gallery Steph Simon edits exclusively its furniture and she continues its collaborations with Jean Prouvé. During the 60s, Charlotte Perriand returns to the architecture of mountain with in particular the program of the station of Arcs.
